Remembering
Join us for a special lecture as part of the School of Art & Design Seminar Series by Dennis Golding, ANU's 2025 H.C. Coombs Creative Arts Indigenous Fellow.
Dennis Golding (b. 1989) is a Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist and curator from north-west New South Wales, with ties to Biripi country.
Golding has exhibited widely, including at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Art Gallery of South Australia, Carriageworks, and Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative. His work has featured in major projects such as the Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Free/State, and the 2021 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards.
Golding is also co-founder of the Re-Right Collective and recipient of the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Emerging Fellowship. Through his practice, he presents powerful expressions of contemporary Aboriginal cultural identity, offering critical reflections on history while re-imagining narratives of place and belonging.
Now, Golding will deepen and extend his practice as one of the HC Coombs Creative Arts Indigenous Fellows during his residency at The Australian National University School of Art & Design in 2025. As part of the Fellowship Dennis will be developing work for the 2026 Sydney Biennale.
This new work, Picking Up the Pieces, draws on personal lived experience growing up on Gadigal Land (Redfern Sydney), and will address themes of Indigenous displacement, community bonds, and cultural resilience.
